Trial date set for Mitchell man charged with murder

A 49 year old Mitchell man is going to trial for the killing of another man in August. Anthony Lewis pleaded not guilty Tuesday to first-degree and second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 30 year old Quinn Patrick Schleuning following an altercation in the 100 block of East Second Avenue early on August 22nd.
Judge Chris Giles set trial for the week of December 5th.
First-degree murder is punishable by death or life in prison. Second degree murder carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Giles advised Lewis if he’s found guilty of first-degree murder, it’s up to the jury to decide whether he receives the death penalty or the life term.
